Halloween 2012

Halloween is already tomorrow!! After this, the days till the new year will just fly by... I cannot believe it how time goes by!

For Halloween, I did something new this year.  As I posted in the previous entry, I made 12 Halloween themed ATCs and exchanged some of them with my friend who also made 12 Halloween ATCs.

We met at a cafe... What could be better than this? beautiful hand-made things, good latte, sandwiches, baked stuff and cheerful chatting!!

These are the ones I got from her.  It was such a tough decision since I wanted them all!

Last Sunday, we went to a pumpkin patch in Half moon bay.  I personally don't like pumpkin patches in the town area with a lot of bouncy castles because they don't look real.  So I picked a farm that looked like to have a real patch!

Here is what's like... we got there kinda early in the morning, so it was pretty foggy.

There are some in the real pumpkin field, too!  Though it was a little too late in the season...:(

It was the last Sunday before Halloween, but still a lot to choose from.  We picked one small and two tiny ones totaling only $2!

After that, we stopped at Ketch Joanne for lunch.  I had Boston clam chowder and it was very good:)

We left for home around 1pm, but there were already traffic jam...  The problem is that there is only one way to go back and forth between Peninsula and Half moon bay and there are lot of pumpkin farms on that route making people to stop.  The patches are not really my type, but good for kids.

After passing a few patches, the traffic became better, but the other direction seemed like a nightmare....

Halloween is coming!

It's next week! I cannot believe it...

In the month of October, we didn't do much at all, so it doesn't even feel like it was there.  Only thing we did was going out to a new cafe and had a huge piece of bread pudding.  It was good, but really the half was enough.  Their big coffee came in a bowl.... seriously? It was a French bakery.  Are things really this big in France too or is it adjusted to the American size?? Their sandwiches and pies are good size for us:)

もうハロウィンが来週とか。。信じられない。

10月はほっんとこもりっきりだったので、あっという間にでした、、唯一、出かけたのは、うちから30分くらいの所にあるカフェ。フレンチ系でおいしかったけど、ブレッドプディングとコーヒーのサイズに笑いました。コーヒーなんてスープボールじゃん、これ!っていうサイズでした(^^;;;サンドイッチやパイは小さめで、ちょうど良かった♪

Though I was busy, I took one layout class and one altered book class by Suzy West.  She is very talented, funny and cute just like what she creates.  I really enjoyed and learned a lot of nice techniques:)

まぁ忙しいといいつつも、Suzy(Wow Embossing Powderのマーケティングディレクター、ラブメモ16号にも作品いっぱい載せさせてもらいました)のクラスを2回もとったりしましたが(^^;も～可愛くて楽しくて良い人!!クラスも楽しかったし、テクニックも勉強になりました♪やっぱり実際にやってみるのは違う～

In the latter half of October, things calmed down a bit, so I busies myself crafting again!  These are ATCs(Artist Trading Card) I made for Halloween! It was my first time, but had so much fun:)  For the base, I used transparency(Hambly) with clear gesso and sprayed with Glimmer Mist(Tattered Angels). Then stamped, collaged and etc.  I love how it turned out:)

10月後半は少し落ち着いたので、ハロウィンのATCなど作ってみました。クレジットカードサイズで作った作品を交換しあうカードです。数枚のつもりが楽しくなってしまっていっきに12枚～(笑)ベースは、トランスパレンシーにクリアのジェッソを塗り、それからグリマーミストでスプレーしました。あとはスタンプしたり、切れ端をコラージュしたり色々。ラブメモのATCフレームに入れて飾るとなかなかきまってます!

あと12インチも2枚ほど作りました。ぱぱっと簡単にね。あ、でも↓のお花部分は余っていたラブオンをブーケっぽいイメージで重ねていったので、時間がかかりましたが。。

もう1枚のほうはアップのみで。このダイカット、お友達のダイで抜かせてもらったのですが、繊細ですごい綺麗でした!!

こんな感じで1ヶ月、駆け足で過ぎ去りました(^^;;;今週末はハロウィンっぽいことをするぞ!と考えてますが、どうかな。金曜日にいきなりカメラが壊れたしね・・・9年前に買ったデジカメがまだ動くのに、3年前のがいきなり駄目になるってどういうことさ??と思うけど、結構、荒い使い方をしてきたので仕方ないのかな><

まぁともあれ、良い週末を♪

i'm back!

well, I wasn't traveling or anything.... It was the time of a year again to work on the articles on Love My Memories, a Japanese scrapbooking magazine.  I was literary working day and night on the computer.  I love working for them, but it's really intense and unpredictable.  Now most of my part is done (I believe and hope), so I'm back to my blog!

What was I doing besides working on the computer, yoga and babysitting for last 5 weeks or so?  Let me see....

ひっさしぶりのブログ!  タイトルの”I'm back”って”ただいま!”とか”戻りました!”という意味ですが、もちろんどこかに行っていたわけではなく。この5週間ほど、家事とヨガとベビーシッターのバイト以外、ずーっとPCとにらめっこで、年に2回発売されるラブメモの記事を書かせてもらっていました(12月1日発売予定なので、ぜひ手にとってみてくださいね～そしてご感想などお聞かせください!)。短期集中なので、私の担当範囲は粗方終わり(と信じている!)、ブログを書く余裕も出てきました。

で、ブログ放置期間中は何かしたかというと・・・
★September 9　Ghirardelli Chocolate Festival
9月9日　SFのギラデリスクエアでのチョコレートフェスティバル

Local chocolate shops 地元などのチョコ屋さん等のブースが並ぶ。チケット買ってサンプルを貰います。

Chocolate vodka!チョコレートのウォッカ。おいしかったー!

戦利品の残り。食べきれないのでアイスクリームとかだけ食べて、残りはタッパーに入れてる達人多しでした。うちも来年はそうしよう。

ゴールデンゲートブリッジ上を飛ぶのを見るのはどっきどき!

そもそも霧のせいでサクラメントからの出発が1時間以上遅れていたこの日。平日だったので、会社に行くつもりだった夫はさすがにイライラ。。しかも大渋滞～～!!!道もよく分からない一方通行や通行止めがあって、ますますイライラ。こういう時、世間の奥様たちはどうしてるのかな?私はどうしようもないし、と思って諦めて話しかけもしませぬ。いつの間にか転寝してたし。ひどっ(笑)まぁでも私がどう頑張って明るくしようとしても、渋滞はどうにもなりませんし。渋滞抜けて、夫の会社まで行ってあげました～～

★Takoyaki Party

友達の家でたこ焼きパーティー♪でもこの日は3時に起きて作業して、持っていくおかずを作り、身支度してから寄付金を集めるためのヨガに行き、その後にオーナーたちとおしゃべりし、スクラップブックのクラスに行き、友達のうちへ行き、帰ってからまた作業をして寝たのは1時すぎという、私の一生に1度あるかないかのバタバタな一日でした。翌日の日曜は終日、眠くてだるかった(^^;;;無理はできない。。でもどれも逃したくなかったのです～

Well, I don't think there is not much to be shared from October... I'm hoping to take some more photos later on this month:))


って結構、ちょこちょこ写真がありますねぇ～これ、全部9月の出来事だし!まぁ忙しいのがわかっていたので、意識してカメラを持ち歩いてたんですけどね。

でも本当、10月の写真はない!もうあと10日しかないけど、ハロウィンもあるし、何か撮っておかなくては。

Labor day weekend

I hope everyone enjoyed Labor Day weekend!  We didn't do much, but ate a lot and enjoyed the beautiful weather! LOL

On Saturday, we went out for lunch at an Italian restaurant nearby.  It was a nice cozy place and their foods were good.  I got a crepe (San Daniele prosciutto crepe with provolone, wild arugula and cherry tomatoes) and my husband got a chicken sandwiches(Grilled chicken, buffalo mozzarella, sautéed spinach).  I like the foods and service overall, until I found a piece of paper in my last bite of the crepe!  Well... it was clearly a piece from a package, so not a big deal....I talked to a waiter and they said they were not going to charge for my food, which is I think reasonable.  But then, after I gave them my credit card, they charged us for the wrong table.  Hummmm..... I think they need to be a bit more careful, especially after making a mistake in the first place.

Kinda similar thing happened here before when I went out with my girlfriend.  We ordered arugula and beets salad, but there were no beets in the salad.  There were peaches, which tasted good, but still I believe it's their job to tell us what is out of stock when the order is placed.

I liked the foods and service, but guess not gonna go back there at least for a while.

On Sunday, we went to Greek Festival hosted by Greek church.  It was fun! There were some playgrounds and rides for kids, a lot of food booths, music and more!

Inside of the hall, they had a big kitchen and cafeteria kind of thing.  They prepared a lots of different kinds of Greek foods!  I was not very hungry, so we couldn't get much... They have the festival every year, so next year, we'll come back hungry:-D

 On Monday, we went to Hummus specialty restaurant. It was a big hit for me! They have hummus and a lot of Israeli foods.

All the dishes come with pita bread, which I thought was okay. They were very soft, which I'm sure some people like that way, but I like something harder like Indian naans. I ordered vegetable skewers with side orders of hummus and quinoa.  I loved it!  The vegetables were so sweet...<3 p="p">

My husband got hummus classic... just a simple hummus!  I guess he should have got some side dishes:(

After lunch, we stopped for gelato--ginger and green tea! yum!!

今週末は3連休でした～!でも用事が土曜・月曜と入ったので、どこも遠出は出来ず><代わりに近所で、色々、食べました～～(笑)

土曜日は近所のお洒落なイタリアンでランチ♪

夫はチキンサンドイッチ(パンはChibata、ここで焼いているようで、おいしかった!)、私は生ハム・トマト・ルッコラ・チーズのクレープ。

基本的においしかったのですが・・・・私のクレープの最後の一切れに紙切れが入ってた。。。まぁね、紙だしね、見るからに何かのパッケージだから、味がどうこうとかはないんだけど、、、で～～～もさ!!!と思って、見習いウェイターに指摘。見習い君の指導をしていたおじさんウェイターが来て、私の分のお代はいいです、と謝ってくれました。

うん、まぁそうだよね。対応としては、普通だと思います。

そうはいっても、ほとんど食べたわけだし、チップで料理分くらいは払おうと思っていたのですが・・・

カードを渡して、戻ってきたレシートを見たら、金額が違う。。。隣のテーブルのがチャージされていました。。。

おいおいおいー!!

ミスをしたのは仕方ないとして、それをカバーしようとしてるんだから、ダブルチェックしようよ～!

というわけで、チップも普通分だけ。

以前もちょっと似たようなことがあったので・・・

もうしばらくは行かないかも。おいしいんだけどね～～残念!

日曜日は、近所の教会で開催されたグリークフェスティバルへ。思ったより色々あって、面白かった!特に食べ物が充実★屋外での屋台だけでなく、教会付属の小さな体育館で、カフェテリアが設置され、好きな料理をオーダーできるようになっていました。

BBQされたビーフやチキンがおいしそうだったけど、私は全然、おなかがすいてなかったし、夫も肉はあんまりなので、ほうれん草とチーズのパイ、ナッツとハニーのパイ、オリーブ、スープという控えめな感じで。ギリシャの家庭料理って感じで、おいしかったです♪

月曜は、ハマス(イスラエルや中東地方の豆を使ったディップ)のお店へ。お昼時でほぼ満席でしたが、私たちはちょうど外の席が空いていたので、座れました。でも私たちが食べている間、ほぼずっと並んでました～回転は速いので、結構、長くても10分くらいの待ちだったようですが。

メニューは、ハマスが何種類かとサイドが選べるSkewerという串焼き。サイドメニューも野菜やサラダなど。私は野菜の串焼きでサイドにキヌアとハマス、夫は1番シンプルなハマス。パンはピタブレッドがお代わりし放題です♪最初にキャベツの甘酢漬けみたいなのが出てきましたが、おいしい。膨らむ期待。

私の野菜は、BBQされて甘みが凝縮されておいしかった～～!!ハマスは、いつも食べるスーパーのよりもあっさりしていました。でもホットソースを混ぜることも出来るので、調整可能。夫は、シンプルにハマスしかなく・・・他にサラダとかつくのかと思ってたら、無かった(^^;

ちょっと注文の仕方を間違えたかな～というのはありましたが、私はとっても気に入ったので、また来ると思います。

帰りは、暑かったので、ジェラート屋さんにも寄りました。なんと生姜のフレーバーのがありました!味見したらおいしかったので、それとグリーンティーに。さわやかで美味。

やー、色々食べて、おいしかった週末でした。

体重計に乗るのがこっわーい!
