Memorial Day weekend here in bay area were blessed with gorgeous weather!! Finally summer has has arrived after extra long rainy season!
On Saturday, we drove to the strawberry farm for an U-pick.
We would come to pick strawberries early May, but because of cold weather, we had to wait longer than usual. But it was worth waiting for! Their berries are very big and sweet!!
We got about 10 pounds of strawberries only in less than an hour!
On Sunday, I went to SF Japan town for Kimono Day. They have a Kimono day in a every few months when you can receive special discounts and service if you come to SF Japan town in Kimono/Yukata. Since my husband wanted to stay home I went out with my friends.
To my little surprise, there not that many people wearing Kimonos... could it be because it was in the middle day of the long weekend? Anyway, we enjoyed lunch at a half price and shopping with extra discount.
They had special performances as well... This dancing.... I didn't quite get it.
These ladies' dancing was good!
On Memorial day(Monday), I took another Emi-san's class and made double page layout to display the events in May. I used photos from my trip to Japan.
When I got home, I showed this layout to my husband. He liked the film strip on the right page. I said to him "What do you think about this title, 'Welcome home'? Aren't they cute?" He said "Yeah, it looks like Halloween!" I was confused by his comment. This is all about May and my trip. What are you talking about?
Then, my husband pointed his finger to W and said "Isn't this a bat? It looks scary with sharp teeth!"
I was shocked. "It's NOT a bat! It's a butterfly!!"
My husband said "Oh sorry. I thought it was a bat, or goblin, with a big mouth, two sharp teeth on the upper and one in the bottom of it."
Well... if you say so, it does look like it.
But I don't like it! I didn't make a bat or goblin. I made a beautiful butterfly! And I'm sure the maker didn't intend it at all.
Kind of busy weekend, but a lot of fun.
今週は月曜日がメモリアルデーの祝日で、3連休♪や～～っとお天気がベイエリアらしく、カラっと晴れまして。。嬉しい！！！
まず土曜日は、毎年行く、イチゴ農園に、イチゴ狩りへ！ベイエリアのお友達とも、ばったり行き合わせたりして（＾＾；；皆、考えることは似てますね～
今年は、長雨と低温のため、いつもよりも数週間遅れてのイチゴ狩り。11時ごろに着いたら、随分、駐車場が埋まっていたので、「もうイチゴないんちゃうん！？」と焦りましたが、大丈夫でした～～～♪いーーーっぱい、フレッシュで大きなイチゴがなってました♪去年、その前より、絶対大きい！！甘さは、まぁ例年通りくらいと思いますが、サイズにテンションが上がってしまい、10パウンドくらい（5キロ弱）取っちゃった！
まだ来週、その次くらいも、楽しめるかもしれませんー（＾＾
日曜日は、友達と一緒に、サンフランシスコのジャパンタウンへ。半年ほど前から、Kimono Dayというのがあって、その日に着物か浴衣を着ていくと、お店で割引があったりするのです♪この日は、ランチが半額になりましたよー☆イエイ！後、アンデルセンのパン、紀伊国屋なども10%オフ。まぁ紀伊国屋は元が高いのでね・・・円高の今、日本の本は、10%オフくらいでは、まだまだ高すぎて買えませんわ。。。
特別なパフォーマンスもあって、不思議なダンスや舞妓さんっぽいダンスもありました。なかなか楽しかったです。
これで、長い間クローゼットに仕舞われていた浴衣を着ることが出来て、ほっと一安心。着付けを久し振りに自分でやったので、ものすごく手間取りましたが・・・
月曜日は、エミーさんのクラスへ♪5月の見開きレイアウトを作りました。日本で撮った家族や友人の写真を使っています。タイトルは、Tattered Angelsのグリマーミストとチップボードを使って2文字、後は余ったペーパーをダイカットマシーンで抜いています。
それを見た夫。とんでもないコメントをしました。。
私「可愛いでしょーこのタイトルもいいでしょ！」
夫「うん、ハロウィンみたいだね～」
私「は？？？」
夫「え、だってこれ、こうもりでしょ。ここが歯で・・・あ、ゴブリン？」（Wの蝶を指差しながら）
私「5月のレイアウトやって言うてるでしょー！こうもりな訳あるかー！！」
Wの所が、口に見えて、上の歯2本、下の歯 1本に見えたようで。。。（汗）
ちょっとね～～～・・・・もうねーーーゴブリンにしか見えないじゃん！！！（泣
夫「ごめんね～～でも正直な感想を言っただけだよー正直は良いことでしょ？」
私「・・・・・・・正直は良いけど、それを口に出して言うかどうかは別だよね」
ま、楽しい週末でした（＾＾；
1号線沿いにある灯台。絵になる景色です。海の上に見えるのは霧。これが所によっては、沿岸まで押し寄せて来ていたんですね～
