Hakone Matsuri & Solar Eclipse

Did you see solar Eclipse on Sunday?  It was amazing!  In Japan, people enjoyed annular solar eclipse.  It was a very special moment!

We got those special glasses from my friend who kindly offered us their extra pairs.  Even though they look funny on us, we wouldn't have enjoyed the eclipse without them, so we really appreciated!

Earlier that day, we went to Hakone Garden in Saratoga for Hakone Matsuri where my friend was volunteering. We went there mainly to get glasses and partly to see how the garden was like.  

Well, the garden was nicer and the festival was more enjoyable than I expected! Nice surprises!

　日本では月曜朝に金環日食が観測されていましたが、私たちの住む地域では、日曜夕方に部分日食が観測できました。お友達に観測用メガネを分けてもらって、ばっちり見ました～～!!もっと北の方(うちから車で5時間とか)に行けば、金環が見れたんですけどね。まぁしょうがないです。日本は曇りがちの所が多かったようで、肉眼で見れたり、そのまま写真をとれたりしていたようですが、こっちは雲ひとつない、ぴーかん!!影はおかしな具合になってましたが(ブレたみたいな)、日食を楽しもうと思うと、メガネなしでは無理だったので、余分があったとはいえ、快く分けてくれた友達に感謝です♪

　そのメガネを受け取りに行くために、日曜午前中はサラトガにある箱根ガーデンに行ってきました。毎年、箱根祭りというイベントがあり、友達はそこでボランティアしていたのです。私たちは初めての箱根ガーデン&箱根祭りでしたが・・・すごく良かったです!なんか小さな神社のお祭り、って感じで、ヨーヨーつりとか的当てとかあって。日本文化紹介のためのステージもあって、もちつきや鏡割り、空手などのパフォーマンスも。庭にある庵では、お茶も振舞われていました。庭も綺麗だった～～♪竹とかもみじとかに混じって、こちらのレッドウッド(杉)もあって。こちらの自然をうまく取り入れたお庭だなぁーと思いました。人が少なければ、もっとゆっくり散策できたのでしょうが・・さすがに人気のイベントの日だけあって、人出もすごかったです(^^;

　久しぶりに充実した日曜日でした♪

5 layouts!

I cannot believe it's already May!  My best friend in Bay area is moving away from the area all the way to the east coast next month...  I knew it for a while, but I'm still not ready for it;(  As I was the making mini album for my trip to Japan, I remembered the fun, pleasure and happiness I felt with my family and friends there.  I thought scrapbooking was great because I can experience the good memory again as I make (and, off course later on)!  Now it's a farewell time... I'm thinking about making a few layouts for her and her kids since I have so many photos and fond memory with them. I hope my layouts will help them to remember good memory, and a the same time, making layouts will make it a little easier for me to see them going.  Although just selecting photos to print was difficult (they bring back so much memories!!) , I did it,  am going to pick them up later on today, and hopefully start working on them.

Anyway, here are some layouts I made recently with old lines and new lines.  Each of them took me less than a hour to make.  I love making simple easy layouts!

These two layouts are actually on the each side of the paper.  I used scrap papers from other project(mainly Webster's Pages).  The photos are from the birthday party of the baby girl who I babysit.  She was fast growing 1 year old and still fast growing, but  almost 2 now.  It's really fun to talk with her!  

The photos are from wine and art festival in our neighborhood in October last year.  Yeah, I'm still cropping last year's photos....:(  The papers are from Cosmo Cricket.

Another photos from September 2011.  I went to SF to Blue Bottle Coffee with my friend from Japan!  It was a lot of fun:) The papers are from Cosmo Cricket.  I like gray & yellow of this paper.  It's actually the inspiration for my table cloth:)

Oh finally 2012 photos!  Yay!  I used photos of cherry blossoms in the small park nearby.  I love them!!  Papers are mostly from My Mind's Eye.  I love the colors!

早いものでもう5月!!!あっという間ですね～～><来月には、こちらで一番、お世話になった友達一家が、はるか東海岸に引っ越してしまうのですが。。。もう半年くらい前から知ってたけど、全然、心の準備が出来ていなくて、悲しい!!引越しや帰国する友人には、友人一同から、スクラップブックをプレゼントするのが、ここ数年の恒例なんですが、彼女のためにも、もちろんするわけで。もうね～～、その写真選びからして、悲しい。。。子どもたちともよく会っていたので、写真が多いの。。でもクロップすることで、私も楽しい思い出を思い返し、また彼女たちにも覚えておいてもらえたらなぁと思います。

そんなこんなだけど、とりあえず、最近作ったレイアウト5つ。最初の4枚は、まだ2011年の写真やし(爆)その辺にあったペーパーなどを使っているのですが、どれもほぼ1時間程度で完成させました^^　シンプルがいちば～～ん!ミストとかも、もちろん好きなんだけど、ペーパーの在庫の量も半端ないし、写真もすごいことになっているので、どんどん消費です。

最後のレイアウトは、今年の写真で、桜が綺麗に咲いていたので、それをクロップ。私はこのころ、確かに忙しかったのですが、精神的にはそうでもないと思っていたのに。。写真を見て、疲れ顔に、我ながらうわぁ・・・となりました。慌てて加工(笑)

やっぱりレイアウト作るのも、楽しい～～♪
