Emboss and paint

I painted these two papers last night while watching Academy Award ceremony, just for fun.
I used templates from the Crafter's workshop to make embossed patterns, and then colored it with Glimmer Mist(left) and Distress Ink(right). This technique was introduced here. I couldn't get very smooth touch with Distress Ink as the other blogger did, but it's okay.
I'm looking forward to using them for my project sometime later:-)

　昨夜はアカデミー授賞式でしたね～！今年は、ほぼスタートから見ました♪司会の人たち、去年よりずっと面白かった＾＾
　途中で、ぼーっと見てるだけでは勿体無い（CMも多いし。）と思って、手を動かして、↑のペーパーを作りました。テンプレートを使って、スタンプ→エンボス→着色しています。花柄はグリマーミスト、鳥かごのはディストレスインク。ここで紹介されていた作品がと～～～っても、綺麗だったので、マネしてみたかったんです♪
　
　グリマーミストは、綺麗なんですが、ちょっと色合いが薄いかな。
　ディストレスインクの方は、あまり滑らかに着色出来なくて、ちょっと残念な感じ。。エンボスも、柄が細かいので、綺麗に出なかったし。ま、それも味？！何かのプロジェクトに使おうと思っています！楽しみ＾＾

　最近、早めに起きて朝型にしようと思っているのですが、早起きすると、日中がものすごく眠くて、効率が落ちることに気がつきました。。その代わり、夜はちょっと遅めまで起きていても、6時起床はすっきりに。大昔(高校時代・わぁ！)は朝型だったのになぁ～～。。ちょっと悲しい。

Glubers!

I got some Glubers at Scrapbook Island! Yay!
I heard and watched so much about it, so I was very excited playing with it:-)
These two fabric flowers were my first try. I noticed even a 2" gluber can make quite a big flower!

グルーバー、やっとゲットしました～♪
早速、2インチのグルーバーと、ハギレ布でお花づくり！↑のビデオの方法で作りましたが、本当に簡単！ギャザーをよせていく方は、2インチのグルーバーを使っても、結構大きくなることが分かりました。

リボンもハギレも、結構余っているので、またやってみようと思います～＾＾

snows on the mountains

フリーウェイから遠くの山（と言っても、車で1時間くらい）に雪が積もっているのが見えました～。綺麗なんだけど・・・寒い！！その前の週がぽかぽか陽気だったので、気温差ありすぎです。

Cards!

Inspired by wonderful Emi-san's card class I took last week, I made these cards:-)

Left-Background was colored with hybrid ink by brush, used Tim Holtz mini masks, was stamped with Versa Mark and then colored by Pebbles chalk

Center-Background was colored by the same way as above, was stamped with Versa Mark and then colored by Pebbles chalk, blue.

Right- was stamped by gold acrylic paint, and then background was colored with Glimmer Mist, used Tim Holtz mini masks(didn't get sharp images, though)

Left-background was hybrid ink,
2 pink ones-background was painted with glimmer mist and grunge board was used as a mask. was stamped by gold acrylic paint.

　先週、エミーさんのカードクラスをとりまして。楽しかったので、余ったパーツや新しくゲットしたスタンプインクを使って、カードを何枚か作りました（＾＾）
　出産した友達らへ送ろうと考え中～♪

　自分へのメモ。、
・パンチは、カードストックとかでは使えない。というか、使えるけど、パンチがすぐに痛む。。薄いペーパーも必要。
・最近、細かい柄などのパンチも多く出ているが、やっぱり長く使えるのは、ダイカットマシーンだな、、、と。パンチ、壊れるしさ。。。ダイカットは、引越ししたら買う～～！
・ステンシルやスタンプをするのに、カラフルなパターンペーパーだけでなく、ニュアンス的なペーパーもあった方がいい。引き立つ。
・デザインした面とカードストックの組み合わせも大事。土台となるカードストックがゴージャスだとカードもグレードアップしてみえる～。きらきらとか入ってると、なお良し。

Stamp comvention in San Jose

I went to a stamp convention in San Jose for the first time!
It was a lot of fun, but could have been even better if I had my wallet with me! Yes, I forgot to bring my wallet along with credit cards and debit card!!! It was too late when I noticed... Luckily, I found $66 cash in my purse(reimbursement from a friend which I forgot about totally) and my husband was with me to drive. My husband was relieved that I didn't have my wallet, because he knew I wouldn't spend too much. Oh, what a good day, for him!!

Anyhow, we got to the place and I went in by myself while my husband was waiting for me at nearby Starbucks.

The place was small, and had only a dozen of shops. Most of them were selling rubber stamps and inks, but others were selling stencil templates and die cut/embossing machines. Some carried very artistic rubber stamps.


I was very tempted, but I had only 60 bucks after admission fee, so I had to plan carefully(a stamp pad costs $4-8 and stamps can cost up to $20). After much of wondering around, I picked a few hybrid stamp pads that Emi-san recommended and a few rubber stamps.


I made these tags at home with new stamps and stamp pads I got at the show (and some Distress Inks). These are from Lost Coast Designs.


And these are from Invoke Arts.

I put inks with Judi-Kins stippling brush. The finished images kind looked like Distress Ink applied by Ink blending tool.
There are so much possibilities with stamps!!

　サンノゼで開催されたスタンプコンベンションに行ってきました～
　といっても、小さいの。ホテルのホール2つ分くらいで、15個くらいしかブースもなかったかな。減っているのか、何なのか、初めてなので、分からないのですが、それなりに賑わっていました！
　ここでしか買えないスタンプや、スタンピング関連のツール・インクの充実度は、良かったです♪
　でも、財布、忘れていったんですよね～～～～マヌケ。。。気がついた時には、もう戻れない所まで来てましたし。幸い、すっかり存在を忘れていた66ドルがかばんにあって、運転は夫がしてくれていたので、免許不携帯ということにもなりませんでしたが。。。でもせっかく行くのに・・・と思ったけど、仕方ないです＞＜自業自得・・。

　予算が少ないので、何回も展示場内を回り、計算して、やっとインクパッド4つ(4つで20ドル、エミーさんが前いいよ！って言ってたハイブリッドインクの。)と、ラバースタンプいくつか買いました。帰宅後、早速タグに捺して、スティップルブラシや綿棒で着色。

　・・・って。ハイブリッドインク、結構、仕上がりがDistress Inkに似てる～～？！がーん。色も手持ちのDistress Inkとかぶっちゃったよー（汗）着色Or スタンプした後、暫く、インクが乾ききらないのも、似ています。ただ混ざりはしないのかな？まぁその辺の微妙な違いは、私は、なんちゃってスタンパーなので、よく分からない。。タグには、ハイブリッドインクと所々Distress Inkも使っていますが、分からないですよね～～（苦笑。

　でも新しいツールもゲットしたし、アートなラバースタンプは美しい♪また行きたいです＾＾

Love My Memories vol13 Release Party in San Jose!

Emi-san hosted a release party at her home on Friday for the Japanese scrapbooking magazine that she writes and publishes, and I helped her a bit. In the release party, people made a cute heart album according to the instructions on the magazine. Emi-san also set up a table for sale items... Wow, there were some serious good deals!! I actually bought some stuff :-)


We were busy in the morning, but in the afternoon, it got slower and I was able to make the cute heart album myself. Here are finished photos of my album. I'm going to give it to my friend's daughter for her birthday. I hope she likes it!
In addition to papers and flowers in the kit, I used heart stickers and butterfly stamps. I think they matched pretty well!





It was a lot of fun:-))

　昨日、金曜日、エミーさんのお宅で、彼女が編集長を務めるラブメモ13号(日本の唯一のスクラップブッキング雑誌!)のリリースパーティーがありました～♪いつものように、なんちゃってお手伝い（＾＾）今回は、SBアイテムのセールもありました。かなりお得だったので、私もちょこちょこ買い物しちゃいました！

　午前中は、初めての方や見学、お買い物の方が集中して忙しかったのですが、午後から随分、まったり。私もハートアルバムを仕上げることができました♪
　仲の良い友達の娘の4歳の誕生日にあげようと思って、とにかくかわいく仕上げました～キット以外にも手持ちのハートのシールや日本で買ってきた蝶のスタンプを使いました。気に入ってくれるといいのだけど？！

　クラフトにどっぷりの一日。あー楽しかった♪

We got a crab!

The weather here in Bay Area has been great, recently. It's very warm and sunny... Just like spring has already come.
So this weekend, we went to Half Moon Bay and bought a live crab!
There were many boats selling fresh crabs...

We got this one... the fisherman said it was medium, but it seemed huge to us! It weighed a bit more than 2 pounds.

We cooked it on the following day... Even though it was kept in the fridge over night, it was still alive(well, just barely)!!

We ate some just boiled, and some in a pot dish. It was really good:-)

　この2週間ほど、暖かい日が続くベイエリア。この週末も、暑いくらいの陽気になりました！なので、かねてより気になっていた生蟹を買いに行って来ました～～！

　ハーフムーンベイという港町が車で30分ほどの所にあるのですが、そこでは獲れたてを漁師さんから直接買える、とのこと。いまいち正確な場所が分からなかったのですが、人々がボートの停めてある方にぞろぞろ歩いていくので、着いて行きました。
　
　そうしてよく見ると、「Live Crab」とかって幟をあげた漁船が、何艘もありました！むしろ多すぎて、どなたから買えば良いのやら？？？適当に慣れてそうなご夫婦の後ろにひっついていって、その人たちと同じ人から買いました（笑）

　1匹しか買わなかったのですが、2キロほどで10ドル。安い！！（よね？？）中くらいのサイズと言ってましたが、でかかった～～！！生簀から引き上げてもらったかにはじたばたじたばた・・・とーっても元気でした（＾＾；それでもさすがに帰宅するころにはしーん・・・と。てっきりお亡くなりになったと思っていたのに、翌日、調理したら、かろうじて生きていました！びびる～～～。。

　夫が勇気を出して、煮えたぎる鍋に入れてくれました。茹でて食べ、残りは鍋に。結構あっという間に食べれた！！6月くらいまでシーズンだそうなので、また行きたいな～と思ってます＾＾
